NoDisk is a TSR program that protects your hard disk from being
written to. This means that no files can be altered or deleted. You can
still run your programs from your hard disk. Any time a program attempts
to write to your hard disk, NoDisk will beep and print the message
!!!!! Hard Disk is write Protected !!!!!
The application program trying to write to the hard disk will continue
to run; however, NoDisk will no allow the application program to write
to your hard disk.
NoDisk can be installed several ways. By Typing NoDisk password,
(password can be anything and is case sensitive) NoDisk can be turned on
or off by typing NoDisk password. Each time NoDisk password is typed, the
state of NoDisk will be toggled. This will allow you to disable NoDisk so
that you can write to your hard disk. If you just type NoDisk (no pass-
word specified), NoDisk will be permanently installed and cannot be turned
off until you reboot your computer.
There were several reasons for my writing NoDisk.
1) NoDisk can be installed on workstations which are shared
by everyone. This enables a user to use the workstation
freely and save his work on a floppy disk. However he cannot
modify or delete any files on the hard disk. This can save
you headaches from people trying to modify your hard disk files.
2) If you are doing classified work on a PC, NoDisk prevents
you from accidentally saving your classified work on your
computers hard disk.
3) If you do lots of assembly language programs, NoDisk prevents
your program from writing to your hard disk. This could happen
by accident when you are using system calls and do something
strange by accident.
4) NoDisk can also be used to detect viruses in shareware
programs. By installing NoDisk, the suspected program will
not be able to write to your hard disk.
NoDisk is not free software. It is distributed under the
shareware concept. NoDisk can be distributed freely on a trial
basis provided money is not charged and the program is not modified
in any way. If you would like a registered copy of NoDisk send
a check or company P.O. for $15 to:
Nelson Lau
1553 Pele St.
Honolulu, Hi 96813
This will entitle you to a registered copy which does not have
the built in delay menu. If you have any suggestions or questions
please call (805) 989-9464.
